National Research Summits on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons with Dementia and Their Caregivers

There have now been two National Research Summit on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons with Dementia and Their Caregivers Summits (also called the Research Summit on Dementia Care).

The 2017 Summit was a 2-day meeting, October 16-17, 2017, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and private sector organizations. The goal of this research summit is to identify what we know and what we need to know in order to accelerate the development, evaluation, translation, implementation, and scaling up of comprehensive care, services, and supports for persons with dementia, families, and other caregivers. The summit is focused on research that is needed to improve quality of care and outcomes across care settings, including quality of life and the lived experience of persons with dementia and their caregivers.

The March 2020 Summit was canceled due to COVID-19, however, a Summit Virtual Meeting Series was created for the summer. The goal of the summit, which was held virtually on July 10, July 21, and August 13, 2020, was to bring together individuals with a variety of backgrounds to identify evidence-based programs, strategies, approaches, and other research that can be used to improve the care, services, and supports of persons with dementia and their caregivers.
