The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) program funded 44 communities and states under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to implement community-based tobacco and obesity prevention interventions. As part of the larger evaluation of the program, we conducted a study of the implementation costs across all funded communities. In this report, we summarize findings from our analysis of the costs of CPPW across all of the ARRA-funded programs. This study was, to our knowledge, the first of its kind in terms of measuring the costs of prevention activities.
