The Division of Evidence, Evaluation, and Data Policy is responsible for evidence-based policymaking activities for the Department in addition to evaluation, data, information, and privacy policy. The Division also provides leadership and analysis on health information technology, data science, and data standards. The Division provides leadership and staff support to the HHS Data Council and the HHS Evidence and Evaluation Council to implement the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018. The Division also provides oversight and serves as the HHS Executive Director for the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics, the statutory advisory body to the Secretary on health data, statistics, privacy, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and national health information technology policy.
