This interim report is in response to the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Pub. L. 111-5).

This report provides an overview of Long-Term Care Registered Apprenticeship Programs (LTC RAPs) based on existing administrative data from U.S. Department of Labor. The purpose of this initial review is to support the design of a potential future evaluation of the effects of LTC RAPs on apprentices and the program sponsors that administer or operate them.

This report is intended to describe sources of payment for behavioral health providers and types of payments (methods, units, adjustments and updates) made to inpatient, outpatient, independent practitioners, and other providers of behavioral health services. A significant focus of this report describes these same factors in terms of Medicare and Medicaid spending. [209 PDF pages]

This report examines progress toward self-sufficiency through earnings progression and related changes in income and work supports among low-wage single mothers and other families with low-wage workers in the early 2000s. Low-wage workers experienced significant wage gains during the 1990s, but has wage growth continued? What has helped working single mothers advance in the labor market?

As described in this report, the project was aimed at developing a core survey that has the sensitivity to capture change over time in nursing homes' level of automation and, whether fielded in conjunction with the NNHS or through other means, will provide a valuable snapshot of nursing home HIT use while establishing a baseline from which to track future growth.

State newborn screening (NBS) programs for heritable diseases and conditions provide vital health information that enables prevention and early detection of rare genetic conditions. Information management of the screening laboratory test orders and the reporting of laboratory is substantial challenge based on a variety of factors.

This report is a summary of the presentations and discussions at the workshop held by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, the National Cancer Institute, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Office of the National Coordination for Health Information Technology on October 15, 2009.
