Day Care Centers: 1976-1984--Has Supply Kept Up With Demand?

This paper analyzes the growth of day care center capacity in the U.S. over two points in time, 1976 and 1984, and compares it to the change in potential demand for day care caused by the increased number of mothers with young children who were in the labor force.
