Studies of TANF Caseload
- Telephone Survey to Measure Employment Barriers for TANF Caseload
ASPE funded six states — California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Missouri, and South Carolina — to study the characteristics of their TANF caseloads. Each state is collecting data on barriers to employment among welfare recipients using a standardized telephone survey. To assist ASPE in designing the survey instrument, MPR developed a summary report, Survey Design for TANF Caseload Project, Summary Report and Recommendations, that reviews existing survey questions and scales focused on potential barriers to employment among TANF recipients. The final survey instrument, TANF Caseload Survey, is for use in the six state studies.
