Betsy L. Humphreys, M.L.S., is Associate Director for Library Operations and Assistant Director for Health Services Research Information at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) in the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services. She oversees NLM’s basic services, including indexing the scientific literature for MEDLINE/PubMed; the National Network of Libraries of Medicine; the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) project; NLM's National Information Center on Health Services Research and Health Care Technology; and NLM's activities related to health data standards. Ms. Humphreys is a member of the Institute of Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics, and a Distinguished member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.
