Role of Religiosity in the Lives of the Low-Income Population: A Comprehensive Review of the Evidence. Single Item Measurement


Almost all the identified studies rely on single item measures of religion. Notably, two of the four data sets include reports of religiosity and religious denomination for both males and females. Only one study, MARS, contains measures that go beyond individual denomination and church attendance to include multidimensional constructs of religious beliefs, centrality of religion to the marital relationship, and joint participation of spouses in various religious activities, such as prayer and religious social activities.
