Margaret Simms is an Institute fellow at the Urban Institute and has directed the Institute’s Low-Income Working Families project since 2007. A nationally recognized expert on the economic well-being of African Americans, her current work focuses on low-income families, with an emphasis on employment and asset building.

Marla McDaniel is a senior research associate with the Urban Institute’s Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population. Her research focuses on family resources, social policies, race, and their influence on child and adult health and well-being.

William Monson is a research assistant with the Center on Labor Human Services, and Population.

Karina Fortuny is a former research associate with the Center on Labor Human Services, and Population.
