Division of Data Policy

The Division of Data Policy is responsible for data and statistical policy development and coordination within HHS and serves as the HHS focal point for department-wide data and statistical policy. The Division provides leadership and staff support to the HHS Data Council (hyperlink), the principal internal forum and advisory body to the Secretary on data policy issues, including data collection strategy, statistical policy, data standards, and informatics issues. The Division also provides oversight and serves as the HHS Executive Director for the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics, the statutory advisory body to the Secretary on health data, statistics, privacy, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and national health information policy. The Division provides staff support to the ASPE and leadership within the Office of the Secretary on a variety of department-wide data policy issues and initiatives, including
