The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Public Health
Service Evaluation Set-Aside Program, authorized by Section 241
of the U.S. Public Health Service Act, plays a role in the improvement
of programs and services of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS),
through the collection of information on program performance. Studies
supported by these evaluation set-aside funds serve decision makers
in Federal, State, and local governments, and private sector public
health research, education, and practice communities by providing
valuable information on how programs are working.
