Graph 1, ESI as a percent of the population. Shows three lines: Set 1 Unadjusted, Set 2 Census 2000 weights (which are indistinguishablke on the graph) and Set 3 Partially Adjusted. Set three starts much higher than the other two, starting at about 67% as opposed to 62%. Both lines decline in parrallel through 1993. The three sets converge to a very close point 1n 1994, and become essentially the same from 1999 through 2003. The level has been mostly stable since 1994 except for a slight increase to CY 2000 and then a decline in the last three years.
Graph 2, Medicaid as Percent of total population, shows four lines crossing from current year 1987 to current year 2003. Two of the lines, Set 1 Unadjusted and Set 2 Census 2000 weights, are directly on top of each other for the entire range. They start at about 9% in 1987, peek at about 12.5% in CY 1993, fall to 10% in 1997 and then stay close to that level through 2003. Set 3 Partially Adjusted starts at 8% in 1987, stays about 1 percent below the unadjusted through 1993, and then become essentially the same as the prior two lines from 1994 to 2003. The last line, Set 4 MCD Adjusted, starts at about 9.5% in 1987, and rises steadilly such that the gap from the unadjusted numbers continues to increase. This line peeks at 15% in 1994 and 1995, takes a slight dip to about 14% in 1998, and then rises to about 17% in 2003.
Graph 3, Uninsured as Percent of Population. shows four lines crossing from current year 1987 to current year 2003. Two of the lines, Set 1 Unadjusted and Set 2 Census 2000 weights, are directly on top of each other for the entire range. They start at about 14% for 1987 and rise steadilly to 16% in 1998, drops just below 15% in 1999, and then increases very marinally to just over 15% in 2003.Set 3 Partially Adjusted starts at 11% in 1987, stays about 2 percent below the unadjusted through 1998, and then become essentially the same as the prior two lines from 1999 to 2003. The last line, Set 4 MCD Adjusted, starts just below the partially adjusted, and continues to parallel the other lines with the gap gradually increasing to close in 2003 at roughly 12.5%.
Graph 4, has 4 bars. Current Population Survey Raw has roughly 45 million for 16% of the population. CPS adjusted has has approximately 36 million for 13% of the population. Medical Expenditure Survey has roughly 34 million for 12%. National Health Interview Survey has about 25 million for approximately 9.5%
