Potential Prioritization Criteria

  • Outcome measures should be a priority
    • i.e. patient-reported
    • Patient/caregiver experience of care
  • Account for minority groups disproportionally affected by ADRD
  • Consider patients who do not have a caregiver
  • How to approach “patient-reported” measures when people can no longer speak for themselves

Prioritizing Measure Gaps: Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Dementias

National Alzheimer’s Plan Listening Session

  • The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is holding a listening session intended to provide stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s and broader dementia community an opportunity to share their perspectives on what outcomes are desirable, meaningful, and feasible to achieve through healthcare service delivery.
    • What health outcomes are most meaningful to focus efforts on for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias, and for families and caregivers?
    • Given the current state of Alzheimer’s and dementia treatment, what information obtained through diagnostic testing would be useful to patients and families?
    • What do you perceive that physicians and other care providers need to meaningfully improve care delivery for persons with early to moderate cognitive impairment? Advanced dementia?
  • The comments expressed during the session will be shared with officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Department charged with updating the National Alzheimer’s Plan.
  • Scheduled for February 18, 2014, 1:30pm-3pm ET 1-877-267-1577; enter meeting # 993 634 493##
