President's Council on Bioethics

President Bush created the Council on Bioethics through an Executive Order on November 28, 2001. The Council will have up to 18 members drawn from the fields of science and medicine, law and government, philosophy and theology, and other areas of the humanities and social sciences. As part of its mission, the Council may investigate and advise the President about issues related to specific biomedical technologies and research, as well as general bioethical issues such as appropriate protections for human research subjects.
